  1. it depends how long you spend with it they are very funny and good learners

  2. They can be smart little boogers ^.^ .

Many learn to talk or whistle tunes and as someone already stated they will solve pretty much any challenge put in front of them. They have the verbal intelligence of a 6 month old child (possibly older) and get into just as much trouble! They may not be as smart as the big parrots, but they do have brains. They learn to untie knots, solve puzzle toys and in my case, served as a service animal :-) . They can be taught tons of tricks if you have the right treats and lots of patience. There's several videos on Youtube of cockatiels fetching ^.^ I've found clicker training to be the fastest way to teach a bird anything!

  3. They are great birds. They can live for over 12 years so be ready to be committed! They can be very social too, ours loves being played with.

They also enjoy company of budgies. They are great birds to have! They can be trained to talk if trained from an early age and can be made very tame if their owner works with them enough.

  4. very but they do take lots of work

  5. Cockatiels are VERY clever. I had mine for about a week and all of sudden it managed to get upstairs. I watched it closely and it turns out it figured how to climb up the stairs. He also figured out how to climb up the tv wires to get onto up the entertainment center. He also figured out how to get up onto the table using my backpack strap the was hanging about 4 in. above the floor. He even managed to figure out how to pop off the lid to the food container.

Cockatiels, as you can see, are very clever. Unfortunately they use this cleverness to get into trouble.

If you put a challenge in front of a cockatiel, they will solve it.

Though they are mischievous and clever, they still have the power to love unconditionally. So, i would definitely recommend a cockatiel as long as you watch it wen it's out of the cage.

  6. They are awesome...I love them. I have one and so does my boyfriend. Here is a site that you can take a look at to help you chose. Just click on Cockatiels and if you like what you see... on the left are some links that can help you get started! Good Luck! http://parrotcentral.net/companion_parro...

  7. Very clever they eventually learn as they grow by their selves hardly need training...

  8. my cockatiel actually speaks a little english (about 15 words) like "seeds", "yea" while bobbing his head up and down, "bubba" (his name) and my favorite "dance dance dance" immediately followed by "go back go back go back", weve had ours for 7 years so it may take some time.
