How close are we (human beings) to having enough non gasoline based vehicles to forget the gas crisis?

What are some things we will need to do to sustain our lifestyles using other methods of energy besides gasoline so that we can still travel, and so that there is no longer a high price of gasoline issue? And when can we expect for this change to take effect wide scale?

Some solutions to this issue have been thought over. Currently, a concept of 'food for fuel' risen. But this may cause food crisis as the price of corn and grain will rocket up. Hydrogen based fuel is another solution. The emission is just water. Common water. But the facility to extract the hydrogen and to store it costs so much. There will be also special procedure needed to refuel car since hydrogen is extremely flammable and explosive and have to be kept in highly pressurized tank. So you can expect two decades or three.

Less than one percent.  Sooner with the price of fuel so high.  I wouldn't expect it to increase much over about a percent a year unless we develop a viable alternative like fermenting switch grass.  Hopefully the era of the SUV will be replaced by something more economical than the tank warfare mentality where everyone had to have the biggest tank to make them safe among all the other tanks.

actually there r already ways n things that cars can use to run on, unfortunately they r very secret and well they just don't want to say it or start using it because that would drastically decrease the money the government gets. u see the government gets hecka money from gasoline because everyone needs it n everyone buys it. this is the reason that i think there's a war going on. i really don't think that a plane was going to attack the white house it was meant for the twin towers n this is wat got the war started n now the government can get gasoline from them or stealing it. so in conclusion, whenever the gasoline is completely over then its when they'll have to show the other ideas. there's actually one that if u throw a piece of something (can't remeber what) in a specific place in the hood of the car then it will start it will be like filling the gasoline tank n it'll b able to run
