My speakers are 2 older 12 inch subwoofers in an older style indoor box made out of wood. Each speaker box also has a mid range speaker and a tweeter.

  1. It is not recommended to put unshielded speakers next to any TV, it is worse with the old fashioned cathode ray TVs, The problem with the new TVs is that they are more computer than TV, Any high magnetic field is dangerous near a sophisticated circuit board. I can not tell you it will defiantly hurt it, But I would not get any closer than Three Feet at most. You dont want to turn a big investment into a paperweight. I own a plasma TV and also use an older set of speakers, after much research I found it is better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck.

  2. Unshielded speakers will not affect an LCD TV.

The only time you need to worry about that is with old cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions, which can be affected by magnetic fields greatly.

  3. The speakers will not affect an LCD TV.  I have two unshielded speakers right next to my LCD with no problem.
