How close is nyc from jfk airport?

help a sista out? i always thought jfk was in the city but i guess not.

I guess you are asking how far is MANHATTAN from JFK?

Well it all depends on traffic. During very light traffc times you can make it in about 20 mins or so. But ussualy it will take anywhere from 30-45 mins, or more during busier times.

Subway, or bus will take at least an hour most of the time.

driving its about 25mins with no traffic. but during the rush hour it can be about an hour and more.

JFK is in the borough of Queens. Queens is one of the borough's of NYC.

However, Manhattan is usually referred to as "the city" by residents of the outer boroughs. JFK is about 12 miles to Times Square (as the crow flies).

Uhm.......JFK IS in NYC - its in Queens.  LaGuardia is also in Queens.

If you mean its not on Manhatten Island, then you're right - its about 12 miles away.  But Manhatten is NOT NYC, only one of its boroughs.
