  1. study real hard and pay attention

  2. To become a good student you need:

    Supplies:

    - Pencils.

    - Sharpeners.

    - Pens.

    - Erasers.

    - Rulers.

    - A notepad.

    - Spare paper.

    Tips:

    - You should take notes in class.

    - Study before tests, at least a week before.

    - Pay attention in class and the teacher.

    - Look over the notes you take in class.

    - Stay organised.

    - Balance time with your friends and your studies.

    - Have a positive attitude in class and teachers will like you.

    - Good behaviour.

    - Do all your homework to your highest standard.

    - Ask for help if you need it.

    - Always try your best.

    - Have a good attendance record.

    - Buy books related to your subject.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

  3. Motivation is necessary. If you can, try to get your parents to give you something, for example, 100 dollars at the end of the semester if you get no Cs, or something like that. If not, it will take a bit more self discipline but you can promise yourself some sort of reward. This way, each time you would rather watch tv than study, you can remind yourself that if you don't study, you won't get your reward.

On top of that, I would highly suggest getting and using a planner, making yourself a to-do list and sticking to it every day. I would suggest setting a time each day to do your homework. Perhaps right after you get home, or maybe if you need a break after school, start at 5 or so. This way, you won't procrastinate about it, saying "I'll get around to it" and suddenly its 10 and you haven't started yet.

This is much easier said than done, but try to get enough sleep.

As far as supplies go, to stay organized, It's difficult to say but different things work for different people and different classes. I could tell you what worked for me. I had a notebook, and a binder with a pocket for each class. I would take notes in the notebook, and any papers that i got during the week keep in a pocket in the side, then on sunday night, I would spend 15 minutes or so, and hole punch and organize everything in the binder.

If you do a lot of homework on your computer, and often get distracted surfing the internet, I would suggest getting something like TimeTracker, that's what I use. When you set it in Homework mode, it will remind you when you are spending time on sites like facebook, or other procrastination sites.

Study groups or partners can be helpful, if you find the right one. Just make sure you find one that actually studies, and doesn't just talk about other stuff. What we did to make sure this didn't happen, is each time we had a study group,  we would designate a "mean person" and every time we were getting off track, he/she would tell us to stop talking and get on with studying.

Also, for tests and such, it helps being a little bit competitive. Find a friend that gets similar grades to you and have friendly competitions to get better grades. You could raise the stakes and compete for buying them lunch, or something like that.

Just remember, there really is no easy solution, everybody has the same problems, lack of motivation, procrastination, even the so-called "nerds" (I was one of them, heh).

  4. when you need to study or do homework, make sure you have no distractions, like for me my distractions would be the computer, tv and my cell phone. make sure its quiet, and when you need to study for like science or history just read the chapter about 2-3 times, then make note cards and test yourself. i also like to listen to classical music when i study, it helps me concentrate. hope i helped!
