  1. HOW DARE YOU QUESTION NOBEL PRIZE WINNING, THE POPULAR VOTE WINNING PRESIDENT AND INVENTOR OF THE INTERNET AL GORE.  You think people like Al Gore should have to fly with he rest of us.  Now contribute to his hedge fund so he can make more money and buy a 50,000 square foot house.

  2. He doesn't. Al Gore does not own an airplane, jet or otherwise.

  3. Cause he's a p***s!

  4. because he is a con artist and hey here is a point , how many trees do you think had to be chopped down to contriute to his bank account ?

  5. Okay ... I love an apologist when they are really reaching.  ... Now, keep in mind that we've heard the liberals go on and on about the evil rich people and the horrors they inflict on the rest of the planet in the name of personal profit and comfort.

"Because there is no other alternative mode of transportation that is fast and comfortable." - Excuse me? We are concerned about comfort? I thought we were all supposed to surrender such petty concerns in the name of saving the planet. Most public transportation is uncomfortable, biking in the rain while wearing a three-piece suit is uncomfortable. Cramming a family of four into a Prius is uncomfortable.

"Anyway, a small private jet emits less CO2 than the big commercial airplanes." - Yes. ... but the big commercial jets are carrying hundreds of people. Divide the CO2 emitted by each person on the plane and you get the idea.

"Al Gore, I suppose, is practising carbon credits, wherein he must compensate the CO2 emissions by doing activities that will earned him carbon credits..." - So we are going to make some assumptions ... Has anyone seen the receipts?

"... such as walking instead of riding in a car if destination is just nearby, buying appliances that are environment-friendly, using solar panels for heating and electricity, planting trees in the neighborhood and elsewhere, using CFL lamps,..." - Walking? Not with his schedule and security needs. ... and I doubt if Al has put the leather to the road enough to even begin to offset his personal usage. Appliances? ... Have you seen the size of the homes he uses? ... Solar panels? ... not in the hotels he stays in my friend. ... Planting trees? ... that would be nice. At least Jimmy Carter actually got his hammer out and nailed boards together for his community service. ... CFL's? ... The numbers are still being crunched on the actual savings to society on those. The mercury issue is pretty significant. The only way the industry is making them profitable is by getting the Dem legiaslators to outlaw the old ones.

"... more preaching on the dangers of global warming to influence leaders to do something about this NOW." - Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner! ... Have you ever read Orwell's "Animal Farm"? I suggest you do so as it perfectly illustrates the point you are making to defend Gore. He is part of the ruling elite and therefore he must be allowed to be unhindered by the rules and lifestyles he requires of teh rest of us. That is the central practice of most liberal politicians. They make laws that they are exempt from. The Kennedy's and Clinton want to tax income generated by working people while exempting the huge wealth and massive foundations they have created for themselves. The Congress requires private business to follow all manner of laws and hiring policies but are exempt from those laws. Clinton and Obama are happy to force the rest of the country into a socialized medical system but will enjoy the Congressional medical program for themselves and their families.

A lot of hateful speech has been used on this site denouncing the selfishness of Bush, Cheney, Rove and conservatives and Republicans in general. It's interesting to watch the liberals squirm and clutch at straws.

  6. He is a politician with a very big agenda . Getting to places quickly on a jet , help make that agenda a reality .

  7. the more important question is how did al gore get a nobel prize

  8. Because he belongs to elitists who think that the "little people" should be the ones to make sacrifices for the benefit of the few.

  9. Because there is no other alternative mode of transportation that is fast and comfortable.  Anyway, a small private jet emits less CO2 than the big commercial airplanes.  Al Gore, I suppose, is practising carbon credits, wherein he must compensate the CO2 emissions by doing activities that will earned him carbon credits, such as walking instead of riding in a car if destination is just nearby, buying appliances that are environment-friendly, using solar panels for heating and electricity, planting trees in the neighborhood and elsewhere, using CFL lamps, and more preaching on the dangers of global warming to influence leaders to do something about this NOW.

  10. Hypocrite.  he benefits from it...

  11. Al gore has a company that sells Carbon Credits...I think  that is a huge conflict of interest.

  12. Three reasons: Ignorance, hubris, and hypocrisy.

The vast majority of debaters -on both sides of the global warming issue- don't really know what they're talking about. It's become such a politicized topic that honest discussion is difficult. No one has "all the facts" about global warming, not me, not Al Gore, not even scientists. But this doesn't mean that human CO2 emissions are inconsequential, nor does it mean that a catastrophic flooding of NYC is right around the corner.

Sensationalism is useless. Simply put: spewing pollutants into the air by burning fossil fuels is bad for us. Such fuels are not renewable and have adverse health issues. The environmental movement successfully killed nuclear power in the U.S., leaving us to rely on coal, oil, etc. As a result, it's estimated that each year in the U.S., 30,000 - 60,000 premature deaths are caused by the emissions from our power plants.

To many, including Al Gore, the ends justify the means. He is willing to be a mouthpiece for alarmists, but is not willing to practice what he preaches. This fact tells me to take whatever he says with a very large grain of salt.

LINUS: He personally contributes less CO2 if he flies commercially. Yes, a private jet emits less CO2 than a commercial jet, but if the 300 or so passengers each followed in Gore's footsteps and flew their own individual private jets, that would surely be more CO2 than one commercial flight for all of them. Your argument doesn't make sense.

KEITH P: So what if he isn't the owner of one? He still uses one. While promoting "An Inconvenient Truth", he flew in a private jet provided by Paramount. He also had 2 large homes (and a 3rd one in Carthage, TN), which at the time of the film's release were not outfitted for the use of any "green" energy.

  13. Because Al Gore is the biggest hypocrite the world has know in quite a while.

The age old, do as I say not as I do.

Or the, stop polluting the world and causing global warming so that I personally and selfishly can single handily cause global warming with personal jets, giant mansions, and huge power bills.

All while getting a nobel prize.
