How come Bangalore is more developed than Chennai?

Chennai is port, so there should be more business and development there, right? Then how come Bangalore has better infrastructure than Chennai?

The old cities lose their charm over a period. Bangalore has been the destination of the scientific Establishments in the 70's because of the salubrious climate and the foreign investment also poured in here. Because they got the revenue for all these offices, the Karanataka government also invested in developing the infrastructure. The IT boom has really powered the growth of the city like never before.

Bangalore's infrastructure is still a long way off from that of Chennai. The roads are not wide enough, electricity problems, though on the decline, are not unknown and there is no public transportation to speak of. Chennai has an operational local train system, while Bangalore's is under construction.

So I am not sure why you think Bangalore's infrastructure is better than Chennai's. Yes, there are areas where Bangalore is probably better not least of which is that it is more cosmopolitan than Chennai and the pubs are much better. And there is no other city in India which can come even close to Bangalore for pleasant weather, hill stations and the like excepted. But outside of that, I would contend that Bangalore has a long way to match Chennai for infrastructure.

And I have lived in Bangalore for 14 years or so.

Well.. people who have stayed at both the places will come to know that why B'lore is more comfortable than any other place.

And I don say B'lore as a complete developed city, still many projects are on their way n not to be late, the International airport was jus begun n its still on its way.

If u ask me about the people who reside here, wel they are the most adorable ones and has more affectionate towards the visitors who travel here. Some might be lil rude but not the whole!!!

Alley the reason yot think about the Infrastructure develpment is due to the high population of Information Technology in Bangalore.. moreover Bangalore is very pleasant in iits climate which is uncomparable to chennai and it has definitely contributed directly to the growth of IT in Banglore i.e People really like to work in a pleasant place. But Bangalore is a very small place compared to chennai . Chennai is very huge and is comparable to mumbai in its size. so the advanncments in chennai is very much appreciable compared to Bangalore, due to the size factor. Also to say except IT  none of the other Industrial developments in Banglore are as much as Chennai. I can swear that there can be no more IT advancements in Banglore  but Chennai has huge gap to fit in the growth of IT industry and any others too... Finally to say Banglore may seem to have better infrastrucure but remember one thing "No IT then No Bangalore".
