  1. Well they might as well be in Ireland too, we had our 1 day of summer for this year and it was this Saturday just gone, I took a photograph of 2 peacock butterflies on the buddlia as proof for the disbelievers out there.

Funnily enough the frost came a month early last year, usually 20 October thereabouts we can expect the first ground frost but last year it was 25 September.

I blame our American friends for everything.

  2. There is a definition called meteorological seasons, not just in Britain. When it started and who started it I don't know. I only heard it last year for the first time.

  3. I remember some years ago, there was a program on T.V called "Tomorrows world" in one episode they said they would soon be able to change the weather to suit. I often wonder if the weather we are now getting, is a consequence of their scientific meddling.

  4. I hadn't actually noticed that the summer had even started this year!

  5. For meteorological purposes summer is june, july and august. Autumn is september, october and november.

  6. Ah, that is coz summer is wet and mild whilst winter is wet and cold. Warm and dry is as rare as snow on Christmas day.

  7. Summer = rain, rain, rain, rain and more rain for Britain.

  8. apparently, meteorologically speaking autumn started today, don't know why. maybe they just go by each season being 3 full calendar months.

  9. Because we only get one day of summer, and that was Saturday!
