Question:

How come Bush wasn't impeached for brazenly lying to start a war?

Ignore for the moment that our unprovoked war of aggression against Iraq is a high international crime; I just wanna know why Bush was never impeached, even though it is now commonly known that Bush and his cabinet knowingly lied repeatedly on camera, even lying to Congress to justify war (an impeachable offense). Clinton was impeached for lying about a private relationship. How was that more important?

  1. Hard for Congress to start impeachment procedings on a president they voted to support when he wanted to go to war with Iraq (who was violating UN Resolution 1441 by the way).  You people can insist on impeachment all you want but you're wasting your time.  Bush didn't lie under oath.  Clinton did.  Get over it.

  2. Where does it say that he specifically lied? Maybe he only knew a specific truth given to him by his advisors and cabinet members and c**p even Congress? Where you in the meetings where they talked about the War and what to do about the situation in the Middle East? NO? I didn't think so.... so unless there are transcripts (and if there are then post them for me and all to see) you don't know that he lied based on heresay....

ADD: Who directed/produced that documentry? The reason I ask is because I am very skeptical (on either side) of documentries that talk about the government... I don't watch anything by Michael Moore (or people like him) nor would I if Anne Coulter (or people like her) directed/produced it...

My point is... there is no clear "truth" as far as what happens in D.C. Everyone on the hill knows many different truths and it is hard to distinguinsh which one is the actual truth...

  3. Does it ever get old for you?  How can you be so wrong all the time  "...brazenly lying to start a war"  about what, exactly?  What "crime" was committed.  Stop it already, haven't you made enough of a fool of yourself?

  4. Because republicans always run away through the tangent.

  5. Strange isn't it? Clinton got a bj and left office with a surplus. On the flip side Bush kills thousands of innocent people. What gives?

  6. Because he didn't lie.  Just because you repeat it over and over doesn't make it so.

  7. Because democrats WANT the government to have that absolute power.  Otherwise they'd of done it a long time ago.  They just whine and cry when they're not the ones abusing their authority get your head out of the sand.

It wasn't until recently that republicans said if a ya can't beat em join em and joined Democrats in abusing their authority.  Now we're really screwed because we don't have a party that believes in limiting government authority.

  8. Pelosi!!!!!!! and weak useless politicians!!!!

  9. because in order to be impeached you must have committed a crime. Being wrong is not a crime.

  10. Clinton was never impeached. The proceedings happened but they stopped them. There is no evidence proving it.

  11. because he will just pardon himself or anyone else involved. we should get him when he no longer have the power to intervene

  12. Well did Clinton and other Democrats lie then too? (please note the dates).  Maybe we should try Clinton and Bush at the same time for war crimes.

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."

--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."

--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."

    --Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."

--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."

Letter to President Clinton, signed by:

-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

  13. That really says something about America now does it.  Put it this way, fear is very powerful.  Bush basically says "you don't want another 9/11, so elect me".  Clinton couldn't really say anything like that.  When it comes to scaring up votes, Republicans win by far.  But yeah that is some really messed up prioritization.

  14. So how is freeing millions of Iraqi's from a brutal dictator a criminal act? Seems to me we should be praising his legacy of promoting democracy in Iraq which is now free and becoming a prosperous nation and ally. Would you have preferred Saddam continue his legacy of butchering hunreds of thousands of his own people? Freedom isn't free.....

  15. Because Washington is corrupt beyond belief.

But in defense of the Clinton impeachment, Bill Clinton was a rapist and murderer (people did it for him).  They got him on that kind of like they got Capone on tax evasion

  16. Please, get over it.  This topic has been discussed over and over here.  Once again, Clinton lied under oath.  A crime.  Bush used the same intelligence that the UN, our allies, and Congress used.  We'd better impeach EVERYBODY, then, huh.

  17. They weren't lying they were stating the facts they had at the time.

Clinton was impeached for lying under oath- not merely getting a bj.

  18. Bush/Cheney impeachable crimes are well documented and summarized in David Kusinich' report. Nansi Pelosi throwed it away and it was not even voted for. Maybe she thought that will distract people from Obama's campaighn?  Very unwise.

  19. Because the Congress that we elected to get rid of bush and end the war failed miserably
