How come Christian women never wear veils?

It says in the bible if a women is praying or prophesying (?) that they should have their head covered or have their hair removed as a punishment.

Is this just not bothered with? It's in 1st Corinthians so I thought it was the part you're not meant to ignore.

  1. because they r not smelly muslims however ive no doubt christian girls will be forced to wear them as soon as sharia law is imposed

  2. Some think they have a better than God

  3. Catholic women were covering thier heads for years till the pope decreed it unneeded.  When I was a kid in the late 50's, I went to Catholic school and we were taught to always wear a head covering in church.  something about covering thier crowning glory or something like that.

  4. Well, they do (nuns, traditional catholics, mennonites/amish prayer "caps" just to name a few).  As a Catholic, the Pope, who is a direct descendant of the Apostle Peter whom Jesus Himself appointed, is the highest authority in matters of doctrine. The Second Vatican Council of Pope John XXIII told us that it was no longer mandatory for a woman to wear a veil while praying.

  5. Not true. Check you info.

  6. Hum, I can tell you this. When we are meeting for field service and there is not a brother there for the prayer, a sister can do it. But, she has to cover her head. Or, when she reads at a book study. Very seldom does this happen, but sometimes. Because, Jehovah is the head of all, then Jesus is over man, man is over woman. It shows respect.

  7. Because our hair is meant "to be" our covering. We are not supposed to cut our hair. But rather let it grow long and uncut. See I Cor. 11:6, 14-15.

  8. I don't think it's necessary in that way nowadays.

  9. That's a cultural thing which does not apply today.

And a full head of hair is all that's required by 1 Corinthians chapter 11.

In those days, there were pagan temples with pagan prostitutes and a woman whose head was covered showed she was under submission either to her Father or her Husband.  The pagan prostitutes had their heads shaved, which was, in those how you could tell who was a prostitute and who was not.

  10. There is no particular point to it.  Referring to biblical bits as reference is no more sensible than referring to Harry Potter; both are fiction.

  11. WE arent jewish...thats not necessary....theres a new covenant!!

  12. There is a time and a place for this.  In ordinary places, it is not required.  In sacred places it is.
