How come Christians say Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY?

Christ says that He's the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But He didn't say that He's the ONLY way.

So, how will you reconcile that?

There is no other way for salvation except by jesus

1Jn 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Well sorry to be in your face 1st. thing in the morning but that is exactly what he's saying.  HE is the way.  Jesus didn't mention no other way but HE.  Buddha even knew that before Jesus was born.  How did Buddha know that.  Because Jesus is God.

Other scriptures reinforce the concept.  So JESUS HIMSELF said he was the only way.  So don't be surprised that Christians agree with what Jesus himself said about himself.

The rest of the verse in which Jesus claims to be the way and the truth and the life is the following - No one comes to the Father except through me. Other claims Jesus made also bear that same exclusivity - see the book of John in the Bible. For Jesus to say "the way" and "the truth" is exclusive in and of itself.

Jesus Christ can be the only way to God because only He can reconcile the great divorce between God and man because of man's sin. God declared that the penalty for disobeying Him was death (not just physical, but separation from Him for eternity). God is a holy, righteous and just God and as such must punish man's disobedience otherwise He would cease to be such. Yet, God is also love, and in His love made a way for man to be forgiven and reconciled to Himself. No man can do this for all men have sinned and fall under just condemnation. Only God is without sin. Yet, man must bear the punishment. So God Who is without sin became man to bear that punishment in our place. Jesus is the Only God/Man. As man, Jesus can take our place of punishment. Because Jesus is also God and God is infinite, Jesus can take the punishment for an infinite number of persons who trust in Him.

Jesus IS God as the second person of the Trinity. He is the only way, truth and the life since there is still only ONE God. Jesus is simply saying that ONE God is the way, truth and the life. ONE God is the Father of Jesus who will show us the way.

I agree with you. I just answered another question that related to this.

As for "Jesus said 'I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me.'" I believe many people mis-interpret this. I believe that Jesus meant "by the way that I'm doing it" and the word "by" is more "similar to". Example - someone who lives a life of love and support of others with the best intentions for the good of all - even if they've never even heard of God - are getting there by the way that Jesus did. That's my understanding. It doesn't mean "you have to worship ME to get to God."

That's my thinking. Obviously not everyone agrees with me. I believe that God in "His" infinite wisdom, created numerous paths to get to the source.
