How come Cubans never answer questions on the YA Cuban page?

On every other countries travel page, answers come from the ihabitents of the said country. However, the only answers on the Cuban pages come from Brit's and Canadians. Why is that?

Most Cubans do not have internet access.

Havanalover is right about that....they can have access but it's not always that easy. It's very expensive and if they don't work in an office where it's easily accessible, then it won't be as frequent.

I've personally always been in contact with Cuban friends via email. But one always had internet access at their workplace. The other had access through family and others through the internet cafe. However, recently it became more difficult and expenses were too high to access internet frequently.

I have though seen comments or questions from those who live in Cuba...not as often, but they do.

There are many individuals who are Cubans but are living elsewhere now.

And there is one individual who currently lives in Cuba (but is not of Cuban decent....his name is Beardo). So you'll get a lot of fair information too.

There are several reasons :

1) Most Cubans have no fluency in the English language.

2) A internet connection in Cuba is very expensive and not affordable for Cubans, officials and foreigners have priority.

3) Cubans can go to a public "internet café" a subsidary of the Cuban Post office. For Cubans this is expensive too and the access time is very very slow, 5-10 minutes to open a page is normal and your time is running.

This service is an intranet only for email messages with no internet access.

4) ( real) internet is only available in the tourist hotels and a few locations such as " the Capitolio" in Havana.

The (real ) internet is very expensive 6 cuc (+/- 7-8 US $) a hour and it's possible you lose 20-25 minutes due to bad connextion or slow loading.

When you know that the average wage in Cuba  between 10-25 US $ (yes a month) is, you will understand that the Cubans will not waste 5-6 dollar on a bad internet communication.
