How come I'm not losing any weight despite exercise everyday?

I'm 16 years old. I'm 5'6" and I weigh about 128lbs. I know I'm average, but I'm starting to get a little flab here and there and I just wanna lose that.

I have been running everyday for 30 minutes (approx. 2 miles). I've stopped drinking pop and energy drinks and I've been eating pretty healthily. I've also been riding my bike a lot, sometimes we will ride bikes for 12 miles or more in one day.

I've been doing this since July.

So how come I haven't lost any weight at all? I've in fact gained weight, just a couple lbs though. And NONE of my jeans fit me anymore.

  1. Keep running. You are doing good. Having a little flab is good if you get ill.

  2. One thing is, at age 16 your body is still growing, and it will for another few years.  Its just the way nature is, so don't be concerned.  In fact as your body continues to grow, if you keep your weight low, you will have less and less per cent body fat, thats how the math works.  It sounds like you are doing a good job.  Be sure and keep eating healthily because your body needs good nutritious food to keep growing.  Have a good life!

  3. Hey

I found some great fat burning tips from the site http://fitness4u.sitesled.com .  There are tips form the top fitness trainers.  There are also some good downloadable free ebooks.  The truth about abs and your six pack quest are also good programs that friends of mine used.  They really give you what you need to lose the fat without losing muscle.

    Good luck, Don't give up.

  4. Try Charlize Theron`s way to lose weight. Charlize Theron thinks a woman with curves is feminine and she loves a curvy body. She also loves the fact that usually she is a size 10. After all the transformations her body suffered she stabilized to a well - balanced diet and workout program by cutting off alcohol and cigarettes. I read about this at http://www.projectweightloss.com/index.p...

  5. 2 factors-one is that muscle weighs more than fat so even though your working out, you may have put on some muscle so you wont notice weight loss at the scale.

Number two is if you dont see an increase in muscle and it is fat you are gaining even though you are eating clean and exercising, you may have hypothyrpidism. Your thyroid is a gland in the neck that controls your metabolism. Hypothyroidism is a condition in which your metabolism works slower than normal. You may want to go see a physician if you continue to eat clean and exercise but are unable to lose the wieght.

  6. I had the same problem when i started running regularly. In fact I gained like five pounds the first few months. Its muscle honey. It's frustrating yes, but you will eventually lose weight, it just takes longer to lose fat than add muscle. Plus people who have alot of muscle look thinner and weigh more than people who don't exercise, because you get that tight lean look. So just keep in mind your doing good things for your body by exercising. Hang in there the results will come.

  7. With some people exercise does not help you loose weight

if i was you instead of just running i would go to your local gym and try a few of there machines

  8. Try timing your miles, 30 minutes for two miles is way to long.  You want to do two miles in like 15 minutes.  Start timing them, and every week, try for 20-30 seconds less than the last week.  That's progession.

lift weights and do other cardio.

and throw away your scale!  seriously, You'll feel better because of working out instead of losing pounds, it's a psycological thing.

  9. you've gotten some muscle, that would explain the weight gain. muscle weighs more than fat. just keep doing what you're doing and you should be healthy. talk to your doctor if you're worried about it.

it's good that you stopped drinking energy drinks, they're bad for your heart.

  10. Maybe you have gained muscle? I hear it weighs more than fat
