How come I can't access ratemyprofessors.com from my home computer?

I don't believe there are any restrictions on my internet activity (adult 18+)........

That seems to be the only website I can't access from home. I have two different home computers, neither one can bring the site up.

I can access the site perfectly fine from school. How or Why can this be?

  1. Try changing your privacy/security settings on your browser or try downloading FireFox instead of using Internet Explorer. Also, if you are looking for an alternative/complementary website to RateMyProfessors.com then try SyllabusCentral.com.

  2. Maybe they have it set to not be publicly visible.

  3. you may have a firewall up or need to change your privacy features

  4. Hi,

My opinion is that your educational organization created access to "ratemyprofessors" as a "INTRA-network" site meaning you MUST be on its network to have access to it.

This is in contrast to it being an INTER-network site, IE shared with other networks.

In this way, an organization has better control of a file - making it more secure.

  5. go to vtunnel.com, and then put in the full address in the bar (include the http://) it should tunnel through whatever is trying to block it.
