How come I can't book a flight this early?

Question

I was hoping to book a flight from Wellington (NZ) to the Gold Coast (Australia) for mid-November next year. I have searched different airlines and none of them are letting me book past June or July next year.

What can I do?

Wait a couple months. Obviously they are by the year. Sure---it's great to book a flight in advance----but watch the market and try again around the end of Sept.

You just have to wait. They probably havent determined what their schedules are for Nov. 2009 yet.

I assume you are trying to book online?

Most airlines won't publish flight schedules too early as there could be major changes that happen between now and then. They might have to have a major price increase, want to rearrange routes, many things.

You might be able to do something if you talk to someone live, but these days most of the time when you book over the phone THEY are on the website booking through that system.
