How come I never catch anything when I go fishing?

We go fishing a couple times every week, but we never catch anything. We buy the good bait, etc etc. All that stuff.

But we never catch a fish.

Also the place we go to is a great fishing place.

What could be the problem? =) Thanks!

  1. maybe your technique - what kind of fish are you trying to catch?  Explain and maybe we can help.

  2. Try worms for bait.

We used to use dough or some white squishy thing and we never caught anything. Once we started using worms we got hella fish

    hope that helped

  3. don't make that much noise if ur in a boat......... and if u don't catch anything  kill  a bird and throw it to the water then sharks will come and u could catch shark

  4. I agree with the other guy who said this - your a woman - its just not right.

  5. Your probably fishing in a spot where there aren't any fish or there are very few fish....what are you trying to fish for cause that will tell you what you need to look for when fishing such as reeds or coves etc

  6. maybe the hooks are too big or theres just no fish where you fish or you should go get chum

  7. could be the size of hook you're using.  If the hook is too big for the fish, they can't get their mouths around it and therefore will just nibble your bait away without any catches.  If the hook is too small you may not be able to get a large enough piece of bait on the hook so the big fish won't go for it cause it's not enough food!  They have a variety pack of hooks you can get for pretty cheap and I would recommend getting that and trying different sizes until you get lucky.  Also, if it's a freshwater lake that you're going in, there's this stuff that is leech scented and flavored that the fish seem to love!  it looks like a little chap stick tube and can be bought at most fishing places don't get it cnfused with your blistix though!  haha

  8. Here's a list of things to help

    1. Smaller hooks

    2. casting distance, too far? not far enough?

    3. Bait presentation, is it clear water and how is the bait being presented to the fish.

    4. Fluorocarbon hook length, invisible under water, less chance of the fish seeing it

    5. Striking time are you striking the bite to set the hook too early or are you leaving it too late

    6. Local advice THE most important thing you can get try your local tackle shops for info on the lake.

  9. COZ YOU R A GIRL, AND FISHING IS 4 MEN.........BET YOUR GOOD AT OTHER STUFF!!

  10. try different kind of baits use anything you dont normally use, all i can tell ya try em all

  11. Hi there, you seem pretty too.Ok, I will try my best.I'm very serious in my answer cos I really want to educate interested people. You see, sometimes when u fish with good baits, good gears, good attitudes, good knots n etc but got nothing. That's because mostly its the wrong time and the wrong place.Although you might be at the in/out going tide, when there is sufficient water movements but different location has its secrets. Those secrets are what hour after/before the tidal movements. It may be the first hour/second/third.These ideal feeding conditions happen twice eg. if the time is in the first of the incoming then it will be the same when it's outgoing but these period within that hour depends on what type of fish species that happen to enter these waters. It might be 30 minutes in a session or less if the quantity of those fishes are smaller/less so you have to be there waiting and ready to set your hook. When it's an incoming, you don't need to cast so far to get to them. Also remember to pinpoint where you hooked one because those are the places to cast when locating them in the near future.Conditions of the sea bed changes regularly with weather and tides.A good place to cast into might not be good after a while. The logic is that you need them to be there in a decent quantity to land some and if the number is too small most probably it will be hard.Maybe the place has been over fished because any known good fishing location is mostly/always over fished. We the hardcore/elite angler will fish at a location that's totally a secret to most angler and we don't speak of it to any stranger. Its not that we are selfish but by telling other angler could be a total lost when he's a bigmouth or a greedy loser. Some say its the hook size but I think that's not really the case because if you use a large hook some smaller fish could get hooked too when its unlucky.Hook size theory is quite simple too because even the smaller species like whiting and croaker has a quite large mouth compared to its total body weight/length.Its actually the appeal of the amount of your bait that will impact what you catch. As long as the hook is not over 25percent of the species body length eg.say a whiting about 10 inches then even a 2.5 inches hook can possibly get you a hook up but its unsuitable cos you need all of your catch to be 10 inches or more to get fish hooked. So you must use a half of the maximum size and this is called down sizing,so you go down with some guide to refer for that species.I have caught many species and actually done lots of measurement plus autopsy on different species. What they are having for lunch/breakfast/dinner,what size of fish go for what size of bait by opening their belly/gut.Also maybe its your weight that you use are simply too light to hug the bottom for good.10 lb test line max.sinker weight is 35Gram so 1 lb is about 3.5Gram but an extra 15percent more is always manageable because sometimes conditions get really bad.Presentation of your bait in the water too are really important, the trace has to be very long-max. 4 feet in length for game fish, the logic is that when a fish about say 36 inches long checking out your bait and when it moved in to have a look, your trace is only say 12inches then it can see your mainline plus your weight. Also the bait won't be moving naturally if the trace is short and get tangled up with your mainline.Say u want a 12 inch fish then your max. trace length must never beyond  twice the size of the fish cos you won't feel their bites and anything shorter than this just won't work for less skilled.I can use a four feet trace to catch something like 6inches fish cos of my skills, playing scare with the fish. Its like now u see now u don't and its moving away with irregular jerks/twicth then pause. This need lots of practice and 7/10 winnings cos the trace is too long for such small fish species. This will go on for days so just practice and hope for the best.Tight lines.

  13. maby your gear isn't good enough. Maby your hooks suck. Try differnt baits too. I hope you do better though.

    Good luck, and good fishing

  14. well most fish like food so i would take a  nightcrawler and a hook and put a bober like a foot above the baitt.anothrer thing is is that you dont no if there are fish there so you really dont no and just cast out somewhere in the shade and sit down and relax and  it takes alot of patience

  15. i've fished with my daughter and i noticed this. she is too impatient with keeping the bait in the water longer or she is too jabber jaws and misses the hits.

i think you and my daughter might share the same syndrome.

  16. karma?
