  1. scrapbooking is a lifestyle that doesn't appeal to the spicy culture of hispanics

  2. Because you are blind.

I've been to many scrapbooking Expo's, where many people of many nationalities do this.

Take your blinders off & maybe you will see it too!!

  3. I'm a "white" woman myself, and  I can't answer your question re hispanic women. However, where I live (Vancouver, Canada) I see plenty of Asian women who scrapbook.   I don't think scrapbooking is particularly related to race or color but it may be related to socio economic status. It is not a cheap hobby to pursue.

  4. I haven't experienced that at all.   We get together as a group of neighbors and friends here for crops and meet in each others homes, because most of us have kids and can't always make the scheduled crops at the stores.  We have a very mixed group...I'm Caucasian, my next door neighbor is Black, my friend is Japanese, and two of the other neighbors are Hispanic.  In fact, out of the group of 8, only 3 are Caucasian.

  5. I think it's a combination of factors.  For one thing, it's an economic thing - the upper middle class in this country is predominantly white right now. That is slowly changing. Also, the US had a big "baby boom" in the 50's - before the biggest immigration rush from south of the border. Those millions of women are now of an age where they are flipping through the stacks of photographs in the closet and wanting to display them better.  I'm one of them, and glad to have you join our ranks!

  6. Watch craft shows on HGTV or DIY...I have seen the MOST beautiful scrapbooks made by people of all nationality but I've never been to a class or even bought scrapbooking material but I love crafting...and have a life book still going...I made the book too.

Scrapbooking to me is so personal that I think all those trinkets and mass produced items they sell in the big craft shops are just a ploy for the big store to make money on something that became popular.

Maybe these white women have more disposable money?? Or they choose to spend the money this way... even if it's not helping their husband who's probably working his butt off...??

  7. I think it's because scrapbooking has become a marketing thing for the scrapbook companies, and white women are the ones who fall for it.

A scrapbook used to be just that - scraps. Now the marketers have convinced people that you have to buy all the pieces instead of making them. They come up with the ideas and you just glue them to the page.

As to why white women are more vulnerable to a sales pitch, I don't know,  but they are.

I should say WE since I am a white woman, but you would never catch me buying scrapbook stuff. I think it's anti-creative.

  8. If it bothers you to see only white women start a Hispanic scrapbook club and teach them.

  9. Why do I only see black people in pimped out Cadillac's with spinning rims and hydraulics?

    It's lifestyle.
