How come I play worse in 5 on 5?

Question

When I play 1 on 1 or by myself, I can hit any shot on the floor. But when I play 5 on 5, I can't hit a shot and I have terrible ball handling. Why is this happening?

The simple answer is that five on five is quite different from one on one.

In one on one you have so much space to operate and you don't have to worry about a double team.  Also players are less likely to go for the steal one on one- because if they miss you have a free path to the basket- while with 5 on 5 a missed steal attempt you still have players behind you to cover you.  

Also one on one you can get to the spots that you like, which is not as easy depending on the size and speed of your opponents.

Just play more 5 on 5 and especially if you can play with the same guys you will learn your role a lot better.

maybe czz u need more practise to play with team mates

same thing happens to me  when im playin with 5 ppl.....likr 3 on 3 i can ply but 5 not 4 me1!!

cause the other players change the whole dynamics of the court.

cause there are more people and not as much space on the floor to do what you can 1 on 1

A nubmer reasons:

1. Because 5on 5 is now a team game.  Theres gonna be passing.  

2. Because in team games, the opposition can switch defenders and theres weak side help in case you drive.  So at times you can be double teamed.  Also, theres going to be screens to get through, which is difficult.

Trust me 5 on 5 is very, VERY different from 1 on 1.  Thats why in the NBA you can see players score so easily when its a 1 on 1 break.

5 on 5 is like 5 on 1 because everyone is watching your every move because u have the ball. 1 on 1 is just one person watching you. also you have move room and space to create shots. also, you have to pass the ball, so you wont score every time.
