I mean even though he didn't play a single game in 2008, he was still at the Blazers practices, still talked with his teammates, learned about different plays, and participated in team meetings. I think that along will give Oden a better preparation and understanding of the NBA, which isn't really fair to the other rookies.

  1. Because this is officially his rookie year. how could have been possibly eligible last year? quit hating

  2. hey was it fair to oden he got hurt last year and plus he is still younger then alot of the rookies who came out in the draft

  3. Yeah I know, it dont make sense to me either, he shouldnt be eligible

  4. Cause techinqually because he was injured the entire season and didnt play a single game he is considered a rookie.

  5. You still have to play in so many games not just practice and the other things you mention. Why should he be penalized for not being able to play?  Besides Oden might have a step up on the competition as far as getting practice in but that doesn't guarantee anything.

  6. I agree with steve. all MC does is hate on every player besides kobe

  7. Because he didn't play in the 07-08 season.

  8. You know just as much as we do. He didn't play a game, therefore he's a rookie. That's the way it is.

  9. Though it aint fair, it is still an NBA Policy that you are a rookie the season you play your first game for the NBA.

I think its also not fair that Yao got ROY when he came from the Shanghai Sharks, but because he played his first year in the NBA he got the ROY that year.

NBA policies tend to be unfair sometimes

  10. I get your point, but i don't think the NBA cares whether or not he was their for the practices. They only care if he plays or not, and since he did not, they are considering him a rookie.

  11. who cares? Oden won't win it anyways. he is too fragile (like John McCain) and will probably break his leg again. i think Beasley will win ROY.

  12. I agree with Steve S.  Most of these questions are really stupid.

  13. According to the NBA, if you havent played a game you are considered a rookie.  That is unfair, but thats just how it is.

  14. It's his first season playing

  15. Ask David Stern.

  16. nO he didn't play a single game in 08 he never played and he just came of surgery so i dun think he has an advantage but i think derrick rose will take rookie of the year or beasley

  17. he hasn't played a year in the nba yet. that's why.
