  1. I know its crazy. The rankings are screwed up. Ivanovic is #1 :S Confusing eh? when Maria has achieved way more.

tshnobodysfool...what do you mean Nadal has only beaten Roger at the French ? Ahem, if you check the results you`ll see he`s actually beaten him in Monte Carlo and Hamburg.

You`ll also see Nadal leads there head to heads 11-6 or something ?! Rafa is just getting better and better it wont be long until he reaches that well deserved #1 spot thats for sure.

  2. Nadal has only beat Federer in the French open on clay.  He needs to beat him at Wimbledon and maybe the US open.

    Nadal was incredible last week/month!

  3. Rankings are on a 52-week (1-year) basis.  They're not meant to give a picture of who's playing the best tennis at that moment or who's had the better season to that point.

It's a ranking system primarily designed to determine seeding at events.

If you look at their performances from June 2007 to June 2008, you'll see that Federer has amassed more "points" (based upon performances in tournaments) than Nadal.

If you want a better picture for who's currently playing the best tennis, look at the ATP Points Race.  Currently, according to the points race:

    1. Nadal

    2. Djokovic

    3. Federer

  4. because for the past years, he had been do dominant in men's tennis that he had a wide points margin ahead of Rafael
