  1. I agree with the person above me, Winnipeg is a great city and I would never move either.  It is still a fine city.  If you watch out for yourself, you'll be safe.  Yes, as in any major city (or anywhere, for that matter), stay away from unsafe places!  Most acts of violence are between people who know each other.  If you don't get involved with those kinds of people, you are better off.  I never see druggy bikers (or at least, I don't notice them) and Winnipeg is working hard to get help for the homeless.

It's always easy to focus on the bad and see only what the media highlights.  There are many great things going on in our city, like the construction boom and our great economy.  Winnipeg is also home to many kind, wonderful people!

  2. There has been a lot of murders this year and I don't know why.. parents aren't raising their children right I guess.. but I live in Winnipeg and there is nothing wrong with it.. it's not like it isn't safe.. i can take the bus anywhere and I'm 17.. you just have to be careful .. its still a city.. but it's not like you have to keep watching your back when you walk down the street.. the north end is mostly where these murders happen and its drug related and gangs most of the time..but then to downtown isn't a horrible place either. Stay on the main roads during the day, shop, go places, its fine.. if you are walking by yourself down a north end street at late night then you could be asking for problems but who;s going to be doing that? I live on the east of winnipeg and i love it here.. would never move.. and there are a lot of very nice people here to
