Half of my family died in the Holocaust yet it brings absolutly no emotion and hardly affects me. Yet, I'm 18 and am able to become emotionally affected by the Vietnam war. For example, when I went to the wall the three times I visited I start to bawl almost as if I lived during the time period and knew people who died etc.

My mother was raise dby Holocuast survivors who survived Aushwitz, yet when I visited the Tolerance musuem on the two different ocassions I didnt even shed a tear. I don't even support the nation Israel. People my age who's family was kileld in the Holocaust usually support israel and fight against the deniers.

Another thing is I am able to explain the significance of the Vietnamw ar almost in a similar manner a person who lived during the era and was my age would (18 , 19 etc).

I was born at least 20-15 years after the conflict ended in the 70s. I was born in 1989.

Is there a reason to why I am so emotionally drawn to an incident that didnt affect my family?

  1. i happen to believe in reincarnation, along with 2/3 of the world. i know exactly what you're talking about. i have always felt a connection with the Vietnam war. I have a hard time watching movies to do with this war, it's too real for me. I can't breathe when I see a scene in a movie that has to do with it. I get upset when people even talk about it, to the point of getting mad. I believe I was a soldier and died there, I have always felt this very strongly. I was born 1969 at the end of the war. I have always heard that people who die very suddenly reincarnate quickly (such as in a war). also i was born with a very distinct purple heart birthmark over my heart. you are the first person i have encountered that feels this too, I'm sure there are many others, thank you for sharing.

  2. This needs to be in another section.  Not paranormal

Edited:  You didn't mention until now.  Why do you feel your reincarnated?

You may be attached to that war or era, but I don't think your are reincarnated from it.

  3. Maybe you're "picking up " on the spirits or the men & women who died then..or MAYBE..even empathizing with their families who were left behind. Probably most of those families have been to that memorial and prayed there. Maybe that's what you're  feeling. Maybe you don't have the ability to "feel" the emotions of the people from the Holocaust..alive or dead. If we felt the feeling of EVERYBODY  who died and EVERYBODY who grieves...we couldn't handle it. Whenever you feel this..just say a prayer for all of them. I'm  so sorry your family had to go through the Holocaust. I think I've always felt empathy for them...grieve for them...but I really don't think about the  Viet Nam War. So ..there ya' go!! I also have a great  empathetic feeling for animals. My sister hit a deer yesterday. It didn't bother her..but I can feel a little of its pain..and worry about the pain it suffered.

Edit..I thought reincarnation is paranormal too. Where else would it go?Not Myths & Folklore...Where, G.S. ??
