Question:

How come bouncers ask you to leave a bar or a club if you get shut off?

I don't mind at all getting shut off, but why can't I stay in the bar after that? If you spent that much money to get all that liquid courage in you, it sucks when you have to leave.

It's not a big deal if you're living in New York where there's probably 10 other clubs within 100 yards, but what if you live somewhere like Houston where you have to drive 5 miles and don't have a DD.

So, in other words...getting shut off is a pre-requisuite to being bounced?

(and no, I wasn't starting any fights)

  1. HOUSTON..auh we share the same habbitat. well my friend. it simple. Y ou simply need to go where everybody knows your name  and there always gad you came. you wanna go where everbody knows your name.

by that i mean, find yourself a bar that is less commercial and more neighborly. one where ya greet the bartenders by name. there you'll earn the respect and drink to the company of good drinking buddies. And keep your seat when your done with your share. if its a little further keep in mind that it makes up for that by being able to stay and not bar hoppin. then get to know the taxi driver....

p.s. ever heard of "the social" or "the knights of cOlumbus"

    your friend from the

    The Heghts

  2. It is a law, not to serve drunks alcohol, and if you are not drinking the bar owners do not want a bunch of drunks sitting around, and if you go into a new bar, there are not supposes to service you also.

  3. If all the bouncers in the world stood at the border there wouldnt be a immigration problem. LOL!

They probabally think that you could "cause" problems later on in the night.  try going to a house party afterwards instead!

  4. probably because ur obnoxious when ur drunk and they don't want any problems....

  5. Having never personally been kicked out of a bar I can't say I feel your pain.  But I have seen people be tossed out, they are usually at the point of making a fool of themselves and are annoying to other bar patrons . . . they are also worried you are just one step away from tossing your cookies.

  6. you dont have to start a fight to be bad for business. hang out at dive bars if you want to act like you are in one.

  7. As a resident of Houston, i can tell you this.... In the state of Texas it is a felony to serve anyone who is intoxicated. It is also a misdemeanor to allow one who is already intoxicated to remain inside the establishment. The bar can lose their liquor liscense and the bartender and managers will be arrested and held in jail.

The only reason some of them allow you to stay is so they can sober you up and lift some of the blame off of themselves.

  8. I think that it's mostly a precaution to prevent any fights that might occur. I don't think it's very fair to do so, as you said you spent your money there you should get to stay if you like as long as you're not making any trouble for yourself.

  9. Because when you are drunk and can't be allowed to drink anymore you get stupid.

  10. Perhaps during closing time...they want to you leave so they can close shop. There are laws that say they are to stop serving grog is someone looks like they are too drunk. (even though you may not be...perhaps they thought you LOOKED drunk).

Some of the upmarket, s****. ones....won't let you in if they don't like the look of you....or...you could just be wearing the wrong shoes.

  11. Perhaps they have the no loitering policy. If you hold a drink in your hand for four hours they can't bounce you. Plus, if you drink less. That is don't drink fast, they can't bounce you too quickly.

  12. if you are cut off you aren't spending money, just taking up space that could be filled with a paying customer, so they move you along. also the risk of you getting someone else to get you drinks is high and the club could lose it's liquor license if you did.
