Even though they are ultimately transported on the same plane, to the destination?

I know that the cabin is pressurized..what problems would this pose, that are not present when it's in the cargo hold of the plane?

  1. It weighs over three oz.

But let's face it.... is someone is truly bent upon blowing up the plane that you are on, it would for sure be somewhere, and for sure possible.... Your chances of being on a plane with a bomb are less than your chances of getting struck by lightening... but hey, if it deters some stupid idiot who's going to sling gasoline in the cabin, I have no problem with putting my deodorant in the suitcase I check.

  2. The reason there is a restriction on the size or volume of certain materials in your carry-on is so that if you have some nefarious plans, you are unable to manufacture an explosive device, either by yourself or with one or more other potential terrorists while on the plane.  If the materials are in your checked luggage, you have no way of putting them together on the plane.
