  2. Hitler never claimed that God was on his side but there were thousands of poor soldiers who wished he was. If God was on any side he was on the side that opposed the Holocaust. As someone who lived through the war years I can tell you that both sides prayed very hard when faced with the horror of desperate combat. I can only pray now that God was some comfort to those who never came home, whatever side they were on. Remember too, that both sides used conscription and that meant young lads who were torn from their families.

  3. War is an ignoble trait of man.  It has nothing to do with God.  Actually God is put on hold when men choose to war.  God is love to all.

Pope Pius used to go out and bless the tanks that were being sent into battle against the British and if you believe in Papal infallibility and the Pope being Gods representative on Earth,then yes,God was playing both sides,assuming,of course,that you believe in some divine being controlling everything.

  15. What makes you think he was?  The Germans were into a kind of Nordic Mythological Aryan mishmash they invented themselves.  The Allies relied on the God of the Bible.  

    Hirohito was god in Japan.  And I don't think fascism Mussolini style is much into giving any higher being the glory.
