Question:

How come every time I try to mop the floor @ home, the dirt never goes away? How do I clean my shoes?

My shoes always make more & more dirt on the floor, & I can never get the kitchen or the bathroom floor clean. Even if I wash my shoes. It's very irritating, & people who come to my house, like psych nurse, mental health case manager, & family, so-called friends, neighbors, etc. think I'm nasty & trifling.

I usually wear flip flops or crocs.

  1. Try to use rubber mats at doors and try not to use shoes inside house.Keep a separate shoes or sandals to use inside the house.Keep shoe rack somewere nearby main door.

  2. I remember you asking this question before and people tried to give you genuine, helpful answers. This has less to do with you cleaning your floor and more to do with your obsession . The straightforward answer to your question is put  a clean pair of socks  on your feet when you are cleaning and there is no way your floor will still be dirty and more importantly, be sure to discuss these feelings of something still being dirty after just having cleaned it with your mental health worker/psychologist.

  3. Things You’ll Need:

    Mop

    Tile or linoleum floor

    White vinegar

    bucket

    water

    Step1

Do your usual prep of the floor for mopping, vacuum or sweep; move extra furniture etc.

    Step2

Fill your bucket with hot water.

    Step3

While it is filling, dump in about 1/3 cup vinegar per gallon of water.

    Step4

Mop. There may be a vinegary smell, but it will dissipate as soon the floor dries.

    Step5

Enjoy the break and rest while your floor dries. It's like nail polish...you can't move around to much or you'll forget you just mopped the floor and wander into the kitchen to get something. Spare yourself the anguish and turn on a movie or read a book.

If you use too much vinegar your floor will have a slightly slick feel. It won't drive you as batty as a sticky floor, trust me.

This method of mopping does take a while to dry. Make sure the kids are asleep unless you like yelling. A lot.

    CLEAN SHOES

    Things You’ll Need:

    Shoe brushes

    White vinegar

    Soft cloths

    Nylon bristle brush

    Pencil erasers or fine sandpaper

    Leather cleaner or saddle soap

    Leather conditioner

    Waterproofer

    Shoe polish

    Shoe polishing cloths

    Baking soda

    Step1

Clean smooth leather shoes by first removing the laces and giving them a vigorous brushing with a shoe brush.

    Step2

Clean salt stains from shoes by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water and dampening a small cloth. Use the cloth to scrub the stained area. For suede or nubuck, use a nylon bristle brush.

    Step3

Use leather cleaner or saddle soap to clean the leather with a soft cloth. Pay particular attention to the seams.

    Step4

Clean suede or nubuck with a pencil eraser or fine sandpaper, then rub with a bath towel to bring up the nap again.

    Step5

Apply leather conditioner to all leather shoes, taking care to use the correct kind for smooth leather or suede. Conditioner keeps your shoe leather soft.

    Step6

    Waterproof your shoes.

    Step7

Polish your shoes to help protect them and to give them a clean-looking gloss.

    Step8

Deodorize your shoes by sprinkling a generous amount of baking soda into them and shaking the shoes to distribute it inside. Let stand overnight, and then shake the baking soda out.

In a pinch, you can use a little vegetable oil or petroleum jelly to clean shoes and give them a little shine.

Leather athletic shoes should be cleaned in the same way as other shoes. Fabric athletic shoes (or any shoe with a fabric upper and rubber sole) can be washed in the washing machine after removing the laces.

Do not to use the same brush for your white shoes right after polishing your black shoes.

Never dry any shoes in the dryer; stuff them lightly with newspaper and let air dry.
