Question:

How come every time I use acne medication my face gets red, itchy and irritated?

A while back I bought the Clearasil ULTRA kit, and I used it. After that, it made my face red, itchy and irritated the next day. I think that it is an allergic reaction, but I am not sure. I am just curious if this has happened to anybody else before and what they did to cure it, or if you used a different way to treat your acne -without upsetting your face.

>>I also waited about a month later and tried it again, but the same thing happened. [It did clear up my acne pretty good though] ... So again I waited a few weeks and tried just using just the quick overnight cream that came with it [and this would be last night] and my face is really irritated. Sometimes it feels unbearable. I don't think I have ever had any other type of allergic reaction on my face, if this would be an allergic reaction. I never really have had sensitive skin.. so I am not sure what to really do.. Some advice please??

  1. Same thing happened to me when I used a Clearasil product once. Your skin is either sensitive or allergic to it. I would suggest you use something else. I find that Clean and Clear products don't make my skin irritated and red. Also, using too much acne medication is also bad for skin, once a day is enough. When washing your face or putting medication on, don't scrub, gently put it on or you can also irritated your skin.

  2. Sounds like what I go through. I only have irritated skin on my face. I was never like that when I was younger, but now it happens. I use sensitive solutions on my face...have you tried any Neutrogena products? They are pretty easy on the skin and actually work well.

  3. normal with some people due to peeling of skin ,

  4. I think your skin is probably really sensitive to these types of products. Try to use some special products that are labeled with something like "sensitive skin". Have you tried ProActive???
