  1. Because you can do nothing to solve a non existant problem. That is unless you buy into the non existant fix. Buying snake oil use to make people feel better.

  2. Because we would rather not freeze.

  3. We actually have little to do with global warming.  The entire solar system is actually warming up.

  4. Everyone is waiting for someone else to do it, because that way we do not have to show leadership.

Doing something about global warming could be very unpopular if one were to do what has to be done, and doing less than what needs to be done will likewise be grossly unpopular.

It is easier to leave it to someone else to be unpopular.

  5. People are there are meetings on it all the time they just haven't found a solution

  6. to help global warming that means taking a bus to conserve, but people don't have the time to do that

Or buying a hybrid car, they are expensive and not everyone has the money

  7. Global warming is a farce. The planet has a natural greenhouse working to keep this planet alive.

Global warming has become the new ozone hole... Give me a freaking break! The planet warms and cools through regular cycles and right now we are in a warming cycle. Remember the last cooling cycle? It was called the ice age.

  8. Everyone who talks about global warming is against it so what should they do?

There is nothing that can be done because it is a hoax.

Climate change is a natural cycle we have no effect on it.

  9. A lot of people are doing a lot.   And would be doing more if the bush administration weren't blocking the free market to protect their friends in the oil and coal industry.   Here's some examples:

    >as I write this, the Yahoo headline story is about the new all-electric Tessla--a 125 mph sports car ( a low cost model is currently under development).  This is an innovation the major car companies claim is years away--and they aren't under any pressure to do anything from current policy makers.  But private entrepreneurs have already done it.

    >currently investors are putting $3.5 billion annually into alternative energy research in Silicon valley alone

    >solar energy is currently the fastest growing energy source--and it's accelerating as the cost drops (more technological innovation)

    >recently in Atlanta, an initiative began to expand mass transit by re-introducing trolleys (updated, with modern technology);; Phoenix is already doing this.

I could cite a dozen more examples. Please note: all of these are based on innovation that is largely private, and every single one has been dismissed by the right wing and the Bush administration.

What has the right contributed (I'll skip the years of misinformation and censorship of scientists)?

    >funding "hydrogen cars" research--which requires using just as much (if not more) oil, given that they have NOT funded research to bring down the cost of producing hydrogen from water (currently prohibitively high).

    >handed subsidies to the oil companies (not to do anything, they are just giving them our tax money) and refusing to stop and switch the money to energy research.

    etc., etc.

Technological innovation, entrepreneurs, etc.--a lot of people are doing a lot.  But they are ALL  among those nasty "liberals."  That's where the real support for free market capitalism is.  The right just uses the rhetoric of economic freedom as a way of protecting big business.

Sorry for the political slant--but people need to realize that this is what's happening.  I'm not hyping the situation (re politics), I'm understating it.

  10. people are contributing though but they just don't notice it...

and some people just wanna stick up in here just to tell you it's not real but the truth is they just can't accept it...Are they humans who do not learn from science? think not.

  11. Global warming?...Has anyone been to Minnesota lately?  It is May and they are predicting snowfall for the morning. GW is a big political joke the liberals and environmentalists are playing on us so they can get their greedy little hands on more of our hard earned money.

  12. Dont worry a lot of politicians are trying to do something, they are working on figuring out a way to tax us on energy consumption. We will all suffer for it and lose more freedoms as the government will have one more excuse to run our lives. The really aggravating thing is global warming has never been demonstrated to be caused by humans. The earth has always warmed and cooled in cycles and always will.

  13. Unfortunately I think crabby hit the nail on the head.

Basically entrepreneurs are the ones who are really moving in this direction. The funny thing is that I am conservative but because I focus on "green building" and "environmentalism" is always get discarded as a "liberal" talking all of that "liberal mumbo jumbo". I just dont understand why more conservatives dont want to conserve (resources, energy, etc..).

I am definitely doing my part and I think the only way anything is going to happen is by the public using its buying power to shift the market to be more green (which is what is happening lately) and big business and the republicans will follow.

I call this doing something.  And this is just California.  Add in the rest of the nation, non-profits and international consortiums, and you've got quite a few people talking and doing.

  15. Because nothing we do will change anything about the Earth's continuously changing climate. Most man-made global warming "experts" will usually concede this point as soon as you press them. To test this all you have to do is ask. "So, if we don't cut CO2 emissions by [fill in date: it has changed often over the last few years]_____ then we will be dead by [fill in date: it has changed often over the last few years]_____ . Then if we cut all of man's CO2 emissions in half this year will the date change? What is the new date of global death?"

I have to laugh... in the 70's we had to curb Americal's economic development because our CO2 emissions were creating greenhouse gases and we would all be suffering from a new Ice Age. New York City was to be covered in glaciers by 2000. The "scientists" trotted out Arctic ice cores to show the connection.

Then it was the hole in the ozone layer ... and we would all be baked by UV radiation by 2000.

Now we learn that the CO2 emissions are causing global warming and we have to curb the American economy or we will all be baked/stormed/frozen/hurricaned/flooded/... by 2005 (look back at the early work and you'll find we're supposed to all be dead by now.  The "scientists" trotted out Arctic ice cores to show the connection.

Now we find that we may be suffering global warming OR global cooling ... it depends on the source ... but either way the Earth is undergoing climate change.

... and the CO2 levels are to blame ... and it's all Bush and Cheney's fault. ... and the SUV's .... and the US is to blame. ...

... and we have to do SOMETHING. We have to save that baby polar bear!
