How come fish and sea creatures aren't harmed when lightning strikes the water?

    large numbers of dead fish aren't found after thunderstorms because most of the current from the lightning flows over the surface of the water

  3. i think it doesnt afect the undersea creatures because when a lighning strikes the water, electricity has to disperse in a big area so the undersea creatures doesnt even fell it..

    think of it as if u put a cube of sugar in a big bucket of water.

  4. I would say in the area that it hits, there would be.

    When lightning strikes, its like a static discharge, its wanted to go straight to ground to neutralize itself. Water does allow electricity to conduct, so I would assume, the lighting would hit the water and dispurse, or even go straight to ground, a more negative polarity.

  5. It only affects the surface of the water not under it
