How come health insurance companies wont cover dermotologist stuff?

  1. You may be able to get around it though.  Although insurance companies are just like any other, in the existence to make money, some are giving.  Right now, I am getting laser treatments for my birthmarks.  Normally, it is considered cosmetic.  But the dermotology office bills it as surgical and my insurance company allows it.

  3. It depends on what you mean by dermotologist "stuff". If it is considered cosmetic it may not be covered, but if it is for a problem like acne or a skin ailment it should be covered.

  4. It's a business. They will do anything to avoid covering expenses. They don't consider that a "health" expense. Could of fooled me though, but that's how it works.They love taking your money though.

However, if it is really a health or basic function issue, they will likely cover it if the dermatologist present the issue properly. For example, they will usually cover wart removal if it is considered to inhibit function (like if it's on your finger or something) and often cover acne medications.

  8. Generally, dermatolagist stuff is cosmetic, not really a health matter. They will cover some skin diseases and skin cancer, actual medical problems.
