  1. Because we selfishly would rather be doing something else at any given moment, and put off whatever we're supposed to be doing until the last second. It's not incapability, it's a decision that we pretend is more subconscious than it really is. We know we're pushing it, and we act all surprised when we're late because we decided to sit on the computer for an extra ten minutes, or decided to wait 'til the last second to look for that shoe we knew was missing, but assumed we'd be able to find in a heartbeat. Because we, as humans, are flawless, naturally -- end sarcasm [/here]

  2. People think time is like one straight line, but it's not, its more like a big ball of timey wimey wibbly wobbly... stuff.

  3. because time is just a measurement of time... idk what else to put there... like how do we really know a second is just as long or as short as the next second. Like when your having fun and time seems to go faster. Is time really going faster? And when your bored it seems to go slower. So is it really going slower. Time is just perception. It is something we (humanity) made up.

  4. because time does not "exist": it does not manifest itself as a material object, nor a force, nor anything which can have a causal effect on anything else.

Time itself does not exist, but only as a "mental construct". This means it is a system made up (imagined inside the brain) which is imposed onto the physical universe.

Time IS man's measure of the universe and his existence.

*****mytheory: hey! hows it going... i wanted to argue that even if time is a variable in an empirical study, that does not give it existence. It is still a human-devised construct for cataloguing moments, which we need for cognitive function, wherein lies the "human limitation"... ... your thoughts?

  5. no, for most people they either dwell in the past, wish to live in the now or are always looking to the future.

people often don't look at the big picture all together they separate it.

some people can barley grasp the concept of reality let alone any concept of eternity.

  6. time is a man made thing that was pulled from thin air. we have based our lives around it and have become dependent on it. time contains life, and as we all know life cannot be contained. i belive that there is a flaw somewhere in the system. tiny, microscopic changes have been taking place. when they add up we are probaly a few years off. it could even be more extreme as too a few billion years. it chaos theory. unpredictabillity. we just dont know. time to me makes no sense. it was made to work in our favor and instead we are working for it. also age does exist. age is also a limit on life. once again, age does not make sense and it ultimatley does not matter. so what if you have been living longer than the person sitting next to you? your probaly going to die sooner. it just doesnt matter

  7. Because we can't grasp, like you apparently, that there is no concept of time.

Time is a system made by humans a a way desperate events and keep track and that such. Time is no different that a system of measurement, no different than an inch or a millimeter. It is what it truly measures that is worthy of a conception.

  8. You mean time as a temporal dimension?

It is not exactly obvious, and upon close scrutiny (by this I mean quantum scales) it defies conventional intuition.

But if you can wrap your head around the uncertainty principle and relativity then it is not so esoteric, it just appears as such because of relativistic restraints.

To those that claim time does not exist you simply demonstrate that you do not understand what time is as a dimension.

Special relativity has been empirically confirmed.

    tekniamou

Increments of time is not the issue.

Things that have motion traverse 4 dimensions (with the exception of massless particles that travel through only spatial dimensions hence the constant speed of light regardless of your relative speed compared to light, it does not matter if you are traveling 5,000 mph or 3, if you measure light its speed does not change)

It would be like saying because we measure volume, width and height using human contrived units means that the spatial dimensions up-down, left-right, and forward-back do not exist.

It does not matter that we made up a unit of distance between any two points in these dimensions, they still exist they ARE real, space-time can not be separated they are all woven together.

That is what Special relativity demonstrated.

The concepts represent reality that would exist without a human mind to give units of measurement.

It has been confirmed in numerous ways but the most interesting is a Lorentz contraction.

  9. because it's really complicated.

it requires an in depth understanding of physics, relativity, thermodynamics, quantum physics.

  10. Different cultures view time differently. North Americans, for example, view time in a "monochronic" sense, while many of  their Asian counterparts view it in a "polychronic" sense.

    Neither is right, nor wrong.

Or....were you talking about TIME magazine?

  11. Many are on alcohol, grass, ice, and several other intoxicating substances that Man has stupidly created!

For these poor souls, TIME is either non-existent or that it passes real slow. They hate the watch and the clock. They love the slow loris and the tortoise, but hate the cheetah or the jet-plane.

On a higher technical level on the concept of TIME, it seems that the best person to explain and manipulate it is Albert Einstein who devised the famous equation for Special Relativity, E=MCsquared. Only the perfect understanding of time, speed of light, mass, matter, etc could result in the production of the most powerful energy on Earth, the nuclear bomb which by now, would be capable of destroying capital cities.

Sad to say we ordinary folks will not grasp the true concept of TIME or ENERGY, unless we are trained physicists and mathematicians. BUT it may well be a great blessing in disguise that not many of us are well-versed in such a 'potentially dangerous' subject, else the world would be a more worrisome place with DIY folks creating small nuclear devices in their backyards. It is a scary thought because, almost nothing in life nowadays is impossible.
