  1. Largely because we evolved from the tropics where there was no survival advantage to hibernation.


  2. If humans had evolved in a cold climate, they might very well hibernate. But remember, humans came from the Rift Valley in Africa, and haven't changed at all since then - it was too recent for any evolution to have taken place, since it is only about 100,000 years since we left the Valley.

    In Africa, it is hot and there is no need for hibernation, so we haven't evolved that particular ability.

  3. Because we can find enough food to last a whole winter....and I don't know if you know about this new invention called the HEATER...or maybe the REFRIDGERATOR? Sound familiar?
