How come i can't call a TOLL FREE number?

what is with the phone company? they are stupid, idiots! I never heard that you cannot call a TOLL FREE number until i moved to las vegas! why? who needs a long distance carrier? i am calling a TOLL FREE (expletives galore) number!!

try using a payphone. it works for me to call toll free number.

Toll Free numbers are toll free.  But you have to dial those numbers as 800-x*x-xxxx which is long distance dialing. The switchboard will not allow you to dial 11 digit phone numbers without having a long distance carrier.  You dont have to use the LD service, you just have to have it.

It makes sense if you know how the switchboard works.

They are not idiots, they are people, just like you. the system only works a certain way, and unless you fully understand that system, dont criticize.
