How come i cant burn a movie into a DVD-R?

i have a blank dvd and i cant burn a video. when i use real player or windows media player, it says CD, insert a CD so it doesnt recognize the DVD. and i also tried using TotalVideo2DVD but it doesnt work either because it says your file name contains some characters when it doesn't.

So how do i burn a movie in a DVD???

  3. Try using a DVD+RW.

    You need +RW which is Readable & "Writable".

    -R is usually "readable".

    I have always had issues when using them and prefer the +RW which always works.

    Also be sure to read your users manuals and be sure the movie is not "copyright protected".

    Most have code written into their productions/property that actually prevents copying.
