  1. HDMI output from PS3 to TV. Optical cable output from PS3 to receiver.

  2. I had this same problem with my PS3. If you have

an HDMI cable from your PS3 to your receiver

there could be a couple problems. Go into settings in the menu then to audio. Make sure it is

set on HDMI. This will give you the best picture.

Here is the BAD news. There will be no audio

signal output through the optical cable to the receiver. Once you switch the output to HDMI

that is the only output that works. If your LCD TV

has a optical output you might be able to use that to go to your receiver optical input. To make this work you should have to go into your TV setup

menu and turn off your internal speakers. I went out and bought a new SONY receiver with 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output (425.00). Guess what?

The receiver didn't support audio on the HDMI output.I took that one back and bought a

Yamaha RX-V661. This was the only receiver under 700.00 that supports audio on the HDMI output(about 500.00). You could try a component output cable for your PS3 but you will need a video component output on your receiver to go to your TV to get full 1080p or 1080i. It's a real

pain in the *** to get it to work. I must have spent 200.00 easy in cables before I got it to work right. It is worth it though. GOOD LUCK!
