Think about this please. I'm interested in worthwhile input.

If we measure our congress based on what they do for us, essentially what pork they are able to steer to our area, don't we encourage the abuse of our own government?

The more the government spends the more it can ask for the next year. If there are extra funds it's always spent on whatever can be justified.

Why aren't there more willing to stand up and say "enough is enough!"? It goes without saying that if someone did, say a member of congress, they'd be "blackballed" and shunned by the rest of congress for making waves. It's also a given that if they did their constituancy would think them lame for not bringing any "pork" home.

Isn't this backwards?

How do you suggest we fix this?

I wonder if greed and a "spend it while we got it" attitude has overtaken common sense.

And this isn't a Democratic or Republican issue...they ALL march to the same tune!

Would term limitations help?

Ideas?

  1. Itsyourworld said a mouthful!!  He is soooo right.  Term limits would be the most beneficial to stop our politicians from raping us.  If the politicians had nothing to gain, they would quit selling us out.  Look at Baracka, he sold out Illinois and now he is running for President.

  2. We fix it by passing REAL campaign finance reform laws that prevent the wealthiest Americans and Corporate America from buying our democracy out from under us and then END CORPORATE WELFARE. If our politicians can't receive money from lobbyists, corporations, special interest groups or PACs, they'll have no reason to steer our tax dollars to them. That alone will save the US tax payers BILLIONS of dollars per year.
