How come i only got $598.00 and not $600.00 on my stimulus check?

I know its only $2.00 but everyone i know got and even $600 why was mine different?

  1. You should receive a letter explaining why it was calculated that way.  Basically, for a single, it was a minimum of $300 up to a maximum of $600 and was based on your actual tax liability.  If your tax liability for the year was $598, that is what they sent you.

    Other reasons checks were reduced:

    -delinquent child support

    -defaulted student loan debt

    -back taxes owed to IRS or state

    Since yours is only reduced by $2, it's most likely that your tax liability was $598.


  2. The 600 dollar figure was based on how much taxes youve paid in,how long youve paid taxes.I know several who received between 425 and 550,for some this was their first or secondyear paying taxes.so you could have falled into either of thes zones.

  3. Maybe you owed $2 to the IRS or Government for something.

  4. You should've received a letter telling you that the stimulus amount you receive depends on your tax liability and if that is less than the stimulus max you will get that amount instead.
