How come if it is cold in a certain year it is weather but if one year is a fraction of a degree higher...?

You are obviously heavily politicized... let me offer you instead some rational thinking:

Nobody can say "it´s global warming today in my backyard". That is just being confused between weather and climate.

A weather is a local pattern of heat, wind, air moisture content, solar radiation and rain. It relates to a short period of time (days/weeks/season).

A climate can only be judged on a 10 years average to be at least a little bit relevant.

Also climate extreme are only valide IF:

- they occur more frequently than what has been monitored and recorded (provided that such records exist).

- they are in a magnitute that has not been monitored and recorded before.

Check the headlines of this week alone for the storms across the Midwest.  (I am in WI)  I got to clean "Global Warming" off my car 4 times this week!  My kid and I wanted to make a Global Warming Man.  Maybe I should ask for Global Warming shoes to get around outside, too.

Don't know for sure but when I was growing up everyone was worried about the next Ice Age. So just wait when you hit your fifties it might be Global cooling is the new bugaboo.
