  1. Im a baller who could probably school you. What you have to do is know where the ball is going to go to and get there

  2. Again I agree with Greg about the skills. You have to be tough physically and box out really well. And you have to be aggressive. But not too aggressive otherwise they could call a foul on you. I would play some tackle football to be more aggressive that's what I did. I had the same problem. Man Greg you're everywhere! Hope this helps.

  3. You have to jump to your maximum reach just to get to where a tall guy's arms are when hes standing.

He doesn't need to jump to make the same catch, and therefor has a serious time advantage.

    It takes time to jump.

  4. lift a little bit, it'll help. box out too

  5. i love basketball too, you always have to remember to box out your opposing player. this will definately help you get rebounds. :)

  6. from what you are saying you should be able to get the rebounds.  you sound like a good player and you can jump pretty high.  jumping it not the main part of rebounding.  the biggest thing is getting the position.  if you get the position and time the rebound you will either get the reb or get fouled because some came over the top.  practice blocking out and staying your ground.  as soon as you sense a shot start moving and getting position hands out and strong.  kinda imagine yourself blocking people away from something and saying all mine get away.

  7. big dif between rebounding and blocking

  8. Hustle.Just remember one thing.One phrase.

    "There's no such things as,"I can't catch it.",there's only,"I couldn't catch it.".

  9. I dont know

  10. caz ur arms r slated aand intersects the ball to block it, but u can strecth ur arms high enough to rebound or maybe ur just weak

  11. i dont know. if your good at blocking, then you should be excellent at rebounding. both involve timing, although blocking requires more. Maybe you're try to rebound with one hand(not a good idea)

  12. rebounding is a skill, you have to box out well, and anticipate where the ball will go and whne you should jump to get it at near your highest point.  you have to get your body in front of the player nad shield him from getting to the ball.  rebounding is about how much you want the ball and how physical you are willing to get to get it. learn to read the shots and follow how itll bounce off the rim, but most importantly if youre playing in the post area, then you have to box out and just clear your area from the opposing player so he cant get it.

box out your opponents, get under them since theyre taller, your lower center of gravity should make it easier for you to push them out of the area, so they cant even jump towards the ball without pushing you out of the way and going over the back, which is a foul.  you have to pin his body on your back and prevent him from getting around you to the ball.

  13. maybe you gotta beat everyone else to the ball? like hustle and not watch where the ball goes and actually go get it. I'm not a good rebounder either maybe your like me and your awesome at everything else but rebounding.

  14. Do you box out the other players when a shot goes up? If you try boxing them out, you may have a better chance of obtaining a rebound.  We used to play this game in High School to practice our rebounds and box outs called 'Inner City.'  It can get pretty rough, but the coach would throw up the ball and the rest of the players would try to box each other out and fight for the rebound.

Hope that helps at all. Good luck.

  15. Because you were made to block shots???

  16. I used to have the same problem when I was in 6th grade. I was about 5'5" or 5'6" so I was the tallest on my team. I used to get 2 or 3 blocks (which was pretty crazy for a small girls lutheran 6th grade league) per game but I'd only get like 3 or 4 rebounds. Then throughout the season I worked harder on my rebounding. The key to rebounding for me was just to learn to anticipate where the ball will go.

Last year when I was in 8th grade I was 5'9" and again the tallest on my team and I would get maybe 10 rebounds a game and 2 or 3 blocks. And this was in a recreational league.

So it's really all about practicing.

To practice rebounding try standing under the hoop then shooting a right hand lay up then get the rebound before it hits the ground (even if you made it) then go over and do a left hand lay up and get the rebound before it touches the ground. Then repeat. That drill really has helped me over the years.

  17. i think the reason you get more blocks is because you have good anticipation but you lack reaction for rebounds
