How come im not receiving texts from anyone outside the plan i share w/? ?

I sent a text to my friend and he called and said he got it and

sent me a text and i never got it, i just got this phone yesterday from

at&t its a samsung a737, but like i share a plan with my mom, and sisters

and they can recieve texts, also my phone is a new line, there's just

got upgraded at the store, pleaseee help!

Read your user manual or ask your mother to call the carrier to identify the problem.  Your mom have have blocked the texting option on your phone.  Or it may have to be configured in a particular way.
