  1. I have seen pick up trucks in Bavaria, although they are few and far between.  Maybe it is because no one from Indiana lives here?

PS I live in Germany and used to live in Indiana

  2. Heidi said it almost all.....plus consider the GAS PRICES !!!!! We pay per liter what you pay for a gallon.

  3. No rednecks there

  4. its because they dont need them,

  5. Very simple: Trucks are too big for small narrow streets we have in our old city and town centers (leading back to the middle ages!). SUVs are not too popular either because of their size. Our country is packed with people if you consider its size (it has about the size of Montana and we are about 82.5 Million people). Not only some small streets would be problematic, but also parking could become really difficult. Some of us Germans drive SUVs, but then usually small or mid-size ones.

  6. Auntie-Kryst is right!  Germans much prefer to ride a bike.

  7. Germans dosent needs pick up`s to buy in shops. It`s nearly to buy in supermarkets by bike`s, so they dont need them

  8. They have some pick up trucks but they are few and far between. The German cars are very fuel efficient and pick ups are not practical nor fuel efficient. My colleague has a Dodge Dakota 4x4 quad cab, and our 12 ton tow truck can out turn it. What is interesting is that DiamlerChrysler offers a common rail diesel and a turbo diesel in some of the dodge & chrysler products that they sell overhere in Germany. I saw a Dodge Dakota 4x4 but it had the 2.9 Mercedes TDI engine in it.

  9. They are considered impractical in Germany. Look at it: They guzzle gas, they cannot go much faster than 100mph, and they only seat two to three people. Plus, nobody is lugging around any hay or sheep, and besides that, they are considered brutish and not something you'll be taken seriously with. Germans like small turbo-diesel station wagons which seat five people, do 130mph plus, give you 55mpg, and look sophisticated when they go skiing with them in Switzerland.

    It's a different world there.
