In reality, there were many POWs (prisoners of war) who did not come back from Viet Nam when the "conflict" was officially declared to be over. There have been many movies made regarding the possibility that POWs were  being held captive after we left.

There is even a small minority of people who still believe there are captives in Vietnam to this day..and the speculation that some of the remains sent back are from captives that died were hidden until their remains were sent back.

There are still over 1000 service members unaccounted for.

McCain was a prisoner for 6 yrs.
