How come in my dream I can always...?

..fly, but when I try to run, some force pulls me back and I'm left running in one spot? What does this mean?

Flying in a dream, symbolically, means free from care or worry. Trying to run when you can't means being bogged down or hampered, feeling insecure or unable.

Basically the two experiences are opposite expressions, depending upon how you feel about yourself at the time: free and unencumbered or bogged down and hampered, burdened.
