How come in the military the important guy has a beret and everyone else helmets?

  1. This is what happens when you watch movies.  This may have happened in the past, but it definitely does not happen now days.  The 'important guy" is the one telling the rest of the Soldiers that they have to wear a helmet.  So, if he does not, he violates his own orders, if you are going to set a standard, you follow it.  

    That and someone wearing a beret might look important to a sniper.


  2. well you get a Beret when you are a captain of a team or if you reach a certain rank, I think that you have to be at officer rank or a lieutenant or above to get a beret.

  3. Firstoff, which country/nation are your referring to? Secondly, which service branch? Your question cannot be answered without these specifics. A lot of branches have berets as GARRISON-APPROVED WEAR, not combat. No one wears berets in combat. Except in movie pictures, or some African countries.

  6. the head gear is all for show except in the combat zone and even then its {the  beret}, is worn in 'safe' locations.
