  1. Because they are scared, they have a person they do not know and are not comfortable with touching thier head and handling scissors/buzzer and for the most part can't see what they are doing and it makes them scared and uncomfartable.

  2. Because at 2 they are just don't  know that hair is dead and does not hurt. Just think of the word " cut" and you saying " your gonna get your _________ cut".   they have no understanding of what is getting cut won't hurt.

  3. I don't know the world is still kinda new clippers are way loud and probably sound like stuff monster's are made off,

(not to mention the vibration on a little head not a very nice feeling for the tot)

scissors are cold creatures that  have sharp ends, It's not like anything they ever experienced all that and being sat in a chair with some sort of blanket/hair guard cloak without 2 year old logical reason...well it's just Scary...but luckily

It's getting the right barber/hair stylist who has experience with Children 5 and younger and making it fun like making it into a game.....

  4. My daughter (now 17) LOVED to have her hair cut when she was little.  From the earliest age - at her first haircut - to her it was a day at the spa - a beauty treatment!  She adored the attention and the pampering.

But my son (now 12) was terrified his first time.  He cried and cried and was unable to be comforted.  Later he told me that the lights were bright, he didnt know these people, and they were coming at him with sharp scissors - why WOULDN'T he be scared??

To this day he still does not like it but he goes.

Some children are people persons who enjoy the fuss and the attention - others are not.  It just depends on the child.

  5. insecurity. Wouldn't you be scared at 2 if your mom was standing there telling you it will be okay while a man with scissors is coming at your head, or worse yet a little buzzy thing?? Yep I would!

  6. Because they are scared. Most of the time it's the first time they have experienced this.

  7. i cut my sons hair on my own, i dont know why people go out to have it done. its a waste of money.

today we used the buzzer for the first time, my 2 y/o was a little nervous, but then he laughed because it tickled is neck. he actually loved it.

  8. The last thing a 2 year old wants is to be forced to sit still for ten minutes.

They have some kid friendly places that will play a cartoon or let the kid play a video game while getting hair cut.  But they are a lot more costly than local barbershop.

The first time I took my son to get his haircut, the barber was a very old grumpy man that apparantly did not care for kids.  He was forcefully moving my sons head and demanding he sit still.   I take the blame on that one, I should have made sure his first experience would be with someone nice.

He is 6 now and still does not like to go...but he will tolerate it without much of a fuss.

  9. Kids love having crazy hair sometimes...they think you're taking something away from them. Plus, they hear "hair...CUT" if your two year old has ever been told "Ohh, did you CUT your finger?" they'll assume that a haircut means they'll get hurt.

Calling it something else is helpful, like "We're going to have your hair trimmed" or "She's going to snip your hair"

  10. Well if you did not know what a pair of scissors are and you saw something sharp and shiney comming towards your head...wouldnt you cry too???? Its fear.

  11. They're scared of the stranger and of the scissors or clippers.  They don't know it doesn't hurt.

  12. They might think it hurts, they see those big sissors cuting paper, its probably the first time they've been there too.

  13. most kids that young don't know what is happening and its a lot for them to take in plus the loud noises probably scare them and the person giving them a haircut is a stranger to them so it probably feels weird

  14. to get attention

  15. you have someone tie you to a chair and cut something else off than youll understand. they dont understand that hair is made to come off and that it will grow back they just see a part of them being chopped off and that is scarry.pluss they are made to sit still for a long time that sucks
