btw, i have a lab puppy too so I know.

I think it's cause they're so muscular that it's hard for owners to teach them to teach them to heel.

  1. Have no problem here with my Lab she walks right next to me and heels, sits, stays and comes when called obedience training is wonderful. Even does this when off leash.

  2. Keep the puppy on a short leash so they're not able to pull.  No matter how much they dislike it or struggle, they will learn that you are boss. And do it now before they get bigger and stronger.

  3. All dogs including labs are trainable. Trained dogs don't pull on the leash.  Everything from the little foo-foos to the giant breeds will pull on the leash if not properly trained not to.  Breed has nothing to do with it.  Take your lab puppy to dog training class so you will learn how to train it.

  4. its definitely because they're very muscular and quite curious and excited.  but its important that you make sure you do not do it.  you should use a choke chain or a halter.  we used a regular collar on my old lab and she developed a problem with her neck where her throat cuz it was closing up.  we had to put her down.

  5. Any untrained dog will pull on the leash.

Do have any idea how many small dogs I see dragging their owners behind?

  6. any untrained dog will pull on the leash. When I first got my rat terrier he would pull on the leash but now he walks like a perfect canine citizen (until he sees another dog lol)

  7. Trust me! Labs are not the only one. I have a beagle and just pulls and pulls. Try to keep your lab calm so it doesn't pull  that much.

  8. Like the first person said, any untrained dog would pull on a leash, most especially big dogs like Labradors, German Sheperds, Siberian Huskies, Boxers, St. Bernards and Akitas.

Which is also a good thing too, because with them leading the way, they can help lead the blind (which is what Labradors are really famous for.) and they can tell you where they want to go or when they NEED TO GO.

    ;-)

  9. its not just labs if it was about muscles the lab is not in anyway the most muscular dog. most large breed dogs pull. try a gentle leader if your having a problem.
