How come my 360 rechargeable controller is not working (help)?

Question

i just got this rechargeable controller and some how today i found that its not working right. the problem is u know how when u plug in the controller with the rerecharable wire in and there a red light glowing well this time when i plug in the recharable wire the red light does not glow and i don't know why. so can somebody help me ---

the only thing i can think of is make sure it is connected, try the other usb port on the X360, make sure you have the rechargeable battery pack in the controller, otherwise its problem a broken cord.
