How come my cat has become quiet ?

My sister and i went to New York for a week.So my father kept him for a week.My cat is a 2 year old male, has a good appetite and healthy.Ever since he came back from my dad house he doesn't play as much.He sleeps alot.It's been 2 days already.What's your theory on this ? (Thank you in advance.)

My cat is five years old and does the same thing when I leave. He provably missed you.

Your cat is giving you the cold shoulder for going away & making it stay in a different house. It needs to refamiliarise itself back to being home again, & then forgive you afterwards. Give it another week, it has been through a lot of changes.

He is probably a little mad at you for leaving, my cats do that if I'm away.

He could be just ticked off at you. If he doesn't improve in a few days, you may want to consider taking him to the vet. If he is eating well, using the litter box as usual (going often could be a sign of a urinary infection) and is holding his weight, he is probably fine, just mad. Be glad he didn't pee on your pillow.

Always pay attention to your cat's mood. Behavior and mood changes can be a signal of other health problems.

I think he was worried you went away for good and didnt sleep very well at your dads. So now hes catching up on sleep and a bit wary as to whether you will go away again. Just treat him really nicely, give him cuddles and treats, and he should settle back down.

maybe he had a bad experience over there or he is just wondering what your next move is, like maybe they have some other plans for me. try to play with him and make him feel at ease
