How come my internet speed becomes slow when i download stuff by bit comet?

Because BitComet (As well as any other P2P programs) use bandwidth to download,which uses a chunk of your internet.

The more you have downloading,the slower your internet.It's unavoidable.

2 reasons:

1) your upload stream gets flooded with BT traffic, so your net requests can't get out in a timely fashion

2) your computer can't handle the number of connections BT is trying to track at the same time (happens on older computers)

Try limiting upload speeds to about 10-15kB less than your measured upload speed, try limiting the number of concurrent connections BT can have open at the same time.
