  1. it is pretty normal but it can be dangerous if you didnt do things right. The bettas were supposed to be conditioned already, the male should have built the bubble nest and  the female should have vertical barring. If you did things right, they should spawn in a few hours, if they dont and you see things are getting too violent, then seperate them and try again another time

  2. it`s normal,give them 24 hours.

  3. from what i understand, a little it of chasing is fine... however, if there is nipping to the point of damage or the female seems scared, remove her....  female bettas release a hormone when theyre ready to spawn, if the female is releasing this hormone, the male picks it up and knows the female is not actually a mal.... HOWEVER if the female isnt ready to spawn, the male will just see her as a short-finned male.... leave them be for 48hrs, just check on them alot and if theyres excesive nipping or the feamle  looks scared, seperate them. =]

  4. Bettas are known to attack each other.....this is a great link to help you out......

unless the female is in her breeding pattern, the male will think she is another male.. wild males are NOT as fancy as ones we have in stores..

  6. If the male has already built a bubble nest then he is ready to spawn....its natural for the male to pick on the female before they start to spawn (fin nipping, chasing ext.) . but if the female isnt ready to spawn the male can become agitated and start to hurt the female. thats where you come in. if you notice that the female doesnt look very interested in mating and is starting to get nipped a little too much take her out. shes not ready yet. Males will hurt females badly if the females dont start spawning . but a little fin nipping is normal...

there are a lot of great videos on yout tube about betta spawning you should check them out. it'll help you figure out what your fish are up too.

remember to keep the femal seperate from the male if he hasnt built a bubble nest yet. put her in a seperate container where the male can see her but not touch her. he will usually start doing a little showing off and start building a bubble nest. Like in the video its smart to use a floating half cup or bowl of some type to contain his bubble nest and the eggs.
